SUBSTANCE: method includes preparing a mixture of titanium tetrachloride and carbon tetrachloride with ratio of 1:(0,009…0,01) and supplied to restoration of metal magnesium at excess pressure of argon. Reduction is performed at a rate of not more than 100 kg/h, and then at a rate of not more than 150 kg/h at constant temperature, constant excess pressure of argon and with periodic drain salt magnesium chloride. Spongy titanium is subjected to vacuum separation for removal of impurities.
EFFECT: obtaining spongy titanium with given content of carbon and low content of impurities.
